Orianthi Signature Guitar & PRS

Founded by Paul Reed Smith in 1985

- Acoustic and bass guitars as well as amplifiers.
Paul Reed Smith worked hard designing & developing two prototypes, and in 1985 this new company debuted its first PRS Custom guitar model at the NAMM Show.
The company has gone from a small dedicated crew of craftsmen to a company of 45 people producing 15 guitars per day and is the third-largest guitar company in America.
The number of Brand champions is not easily counted.

Orianthi Penny Panagaris (Born to Greek parents on January 22, 1985) is an Australian musician, singer and songwriter,
Starting her musical journey on the piano at the age of 3 and moving to an acoustic guitar at 6 and electric by 11, by the time she was 14, Orianthi was already playing onstage live.
She performed in her first stage show for Steve Vai at age 15, meeting and jamming with Carlos Santana when she was 18, and citing him as one of her influences, alongside other classic players like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Solo career
In 2005 Orianthi released a debut studio album (Violet Journey) in which she wrote, mixed and produced the project in her studio.
Followed by her (Believe ) project in 2007, which was released in October 2009.
Attention-Grabbing
After performing at the 51st annual Grammy Awards with Carrie Underwood, in February of 2009, she was asked to try out and eventually get the upcoming gig with the king of pop Michael Jackson.
Micheal Jackson’s “This Is It” concert tour in 2009 was a tour that was supposed to entail 50s shows between July 13, 2009, to March 6, 2010 but never materialized due to the Pop Icons passing in June of 2009.
She appeared on the American Idol results show in March of 2010 and won the “2010 Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year” award hosted by Guitar.

In August of 2011, Orianthi took her blues-rock-based guitar style and joined Rock Legend Alice Cooper, replacing Damon Johnson (Thin Lizzy) and was the first female member of the Alice Cooper Band, doing 2 world tours.
In June 2014, Orianthi left to join RSO, Richie Sambora’s project from the Bon Jovi original lineup on his solo tour in Australia and Europe.
RSO is (an acronym of the two members’ initials)
The Alice Cooper slot was taken by another blazing Female guitarist and friend of the Artist…Nita Strauss.
In 2016, the two toured under RSO in Australia, South America and the UK.
In September & December of 2017, Orianthi and Richie Sambora released 2 EPs called Rise and Making History and a debut album, “Radio Free America,” in May of 2018.
This busy Artist is still continually touring extensively throughout the US, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

Custom 24-2017 Orianthi Signature PRS Model
In collaboration with the artist’s specifications and based on her one-off first made-in-the-USA custom 24 built by the private stock team in 2017, This new model will be sporting many of the similar features except Orianthi’s signature logo hand inlaid into the body in the mother of pearl behind the bridge. PRS created the new limited Editon guitar for the public with similar custom features like the “Lotus Vine” Inlay found on her 2017 one-off model but has taken this new model design forward by adding other features not found on her 2017 model, like a blooming lotus Glow finish, inspired by Orianthi’s photos of her favourite pen & nail polish Orianthi sent to the team.
Debuted on March 20 with Melissa Etheridge at Skyville Live in Nashville and is available to order from January 11- December 31, 2022, with no limit to the number of models made.

Final Thoughts
Never followed Orianthi until I heard her play on the YouTube Video with Steve Vai, The stylish guitar rock instrumental “Highly Strung.”
Really appreciated her abilities as a player.

As far as the guitar is concerned, you can never go wrong with a high-end USA-made PRS Guitar… ever! So having this model would be a no-brainer; the Artist says it the best…
“It’s huge sounding and extremely comfortable to play.”

I would mention that it is pricey and fairly distinctive as an instrument, so if you looking to have something more of your own (visually), this instrument would not be the best fit.
Also, it has a Double Action Truss Rod, and some might feel that it affects the instrument’s tone, but that is a personal preference, and I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject.
